DULUTH, GA – Heavy precipitation and a tornado watch on Tuesday morning (Oct 14) canceled the final round of the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Golf Classic, hosted by Georgia State University. The 36-hole results from Monday became the final official standings with Francis Marion University finishing 11th in the team standings.
The tournament was played on the 6,694-yard, par 72 Berkeley Hills Country Club course.
FMU was eighth in the team standings after 18 holes with a 294 tally, but a second-round 301 score dropped the Patriots to 11th. UNC Greensboro captured the team title with a 562 score, three strokes ahead of Virginia Commonwealth University.
Senior Lukas Crisp was FMU's top finisher as he tied for 26th position with a two-round score of 145. Other Patriot golfers included senior Austin Frick tied for 41st place at 147, freshman Alessandro Caselli tied for 56th at 152, junior Tobias Pettersen tied for 60th at 153, and freshman Marc Casullo tied for 69th at 158.
FMU junior John Lurie Pate competed as an individual and placed 71st with a 159 tally.
Carter Jenkins of UNCG earned medalist honors with an eight-under-par 136 total.
Francis Marion will compete in the 15-team Camden Collegiate Invitational at Camden (S.C.) Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.
