
The Francis Marion University Athletic Training Room is located on the south side (first floor) of the Walter D. Smith University Center, just off the gymnasium (see Campus Map).
Purpose
The Francis Marion Sports Medicine Staff’s primary goal is to provide the highest standard of healthcare for our student-athletes and to always put the health and welfare of the athlete first. The sports medicine staff will return all injured and ill athletes to participation as soon as the athlete is medically fit to participate without causing further harm.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Francis Marion Sports Medicine Staff is to provide for the prevention, immediate care, recognition & evaluation, rehabilitation & reconditioning of athletic injuries incurred by our student-athletes. In addition, we shall implement health care administration, research, and professional development through the use of technology and new concepts. Francis Marion Sports Medicine is committed to providing a superior level of care within all domains of athletic training as stated and defined by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
Service Information
Services offered by the Sports Medicine Staff includes but is not limited to the following; supervised athletic rehabilitation and reconditioning, practice, game, and special event medical coverage, injury prevention services (taping, padding, bracing, etc.), immediate care (care of severe and non-severe acute injuries), recognition and evaluation of athletic related injuries, and education.
