Francis Marion University sophomore
Leander Neuhaus has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Co-Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15. He shared the honor with Mason Benbrook of Sacramento State University.
A native of Hamburg, Germany, Neuhaus set a program record with a 206 score for 54 holes at the Phoenix Invitational Tournament hosted by Elon University.
He carded rounds of 67, 68, and 71 on the 6,871-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club course. His first-round tally was a career best, and he totaled 16 birdies during the three rounds. He finished the tournament tied for seventh in the players' standings, his highest finish as a Patriot.
For the season, Neuhaus leads FMU with a 71.55 stroke average.
Francis Marion will play its final fall event this weekend, Oct. 18-19, at the 55th-annual Furman University Intercollegiate presented by Ezelle/Hines Properties.
Neuhaus is majoring in business management and is a product of Gymnasium Eppendorf (Hamburg).
