Simon DiMaggio shot a 78 amid tough weather conditions to pace Francis Marion University during Saturday's (March 28) second round of the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament hosted by East Carolina University.
The three-day 54-hole event is being played on the 7,280-yard, par-72 Cutter Creek Golf Club course. FMU golfers will tee off for Sunday's final round between 8 and 8:45 a.m. at the first hole.
Francis Marion registered a 316 team score on Saturday, and is two stokes behind 10th-place Presbyterian College.
The host Pirates sailed into the team lead on Saturday and lead second-place Campbell University by three strokes. Under challenging weather conditions, only four golfers broke par on Saturday and no one shot better than one-under-par.
Junior
Leander Neuhaus shot 80 on Saturday and is tied for 24th position in the players' standings with a 148 tally. Senior
Pake June also shot 80 and is tied for 34th place at 150.
Other Patriot golfers include DiMaggio (73-78=151) tied for 39th, red-shirt freshman
Chan Lee (78-79=157) and junior
Josh Dugard (78-79=157) are tied for 67th place, and junior
Ryan Bozard (77-83=160) is tied for 80th.
