HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – Francis Marion University sophomore Leander Neuhaus shot his third consecutive two-under-par 70 round during Tuesday's (Feb. 17) final 18 holes of the 20th-annual Wexford Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament to finished tied for third, while the Patriots placed sixth in the team standings.
 
The 54-hole event was played on the 6,884-yard, par-72 Palmer Black course at the Wexford Golf Club.
 
Francis Marion maintained its sixth-place standing, as it had following the previous two rounds, by shooting a 291 team score on Tuesday.  The Patriots concluded the event with a 54-hole total of 880.
 
The College of Charleston captured the team title by nine strokes over the defending champion Xavier University 864-873.  Western Carolina University was third at 874, while Mercer University (875) and East Carolina University (876) rounded out the Top-5.
 
Neuhaus led the Patriots for the fourth time in five events this season as he finished with a 70-70-70-210 scorecard.  His 54-hole total was only four strokes off his career best.  It is his first career Top-5 showing and his second career Top-10 finish.
 
FMU juniors Simon DiMaggio and Josh Dugard shot rounds of 72 and 73 respectively on Tuesday.  Dugard (76-73-73=222) tied for 26th place, while senior Pake June (71-79-76=226) tied for 44th, DiMaggio (80-77-72=229) tied for 55th, and junior Ryan Bozard (77-75-85=237) tied for 85th position.  June is a native of Florence and a product of Trinity Collegiate School.
 
Miles Eubanks of the College of Charleston earned medalist honors with a final scorecard of 66-69-72=207, one stroke ahead of Tyler Jones of Western Carolina University and three strokes ahead of Neuhaus and Henry Robards of Mercer.
 
Francis Marion will return to action March 9-10 at USC Aiken's Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament.
