WAYNESVILLE, NC – Junior
Simon DiMaggio fired a career-best 68 score on Monday (Sept. 15) to lead Francis Marion University during the second round of the JT Poston Invitational Men's Golf Tournament hosted by Western Carolina University.
The three-day 54-hole event will conclude on Tuesday at the 6,720-yard, par-70 Waynesville Inn & Golf Club course.
Francis Marion bettered its opening-round team score by two strokes to 291. The Patriots are in 15th position in the team standings with a 584 tally.
DiMaggio recorded five birdies during his two-under-par round and is tied for 28th place in the players' standings with a 36-hole total of 141. He is seven strokes off the lead.
Other Patriot golfers include sophomore
Leander Neuhaus, who shot a 72 on Monday and is tied for 33rd position at 142, freshman
Carson Jordan tied for 69th (74-73=147 scorecard), freshman
Cade Jordan tied for 87th (76-78=154), and junior
Ryan Bozard in 89th place (79-78=157).
The University of Southern Mississippi leads the team standings, while holding a three-stroke lead over the second-place Catamounts.
