BURLINGTON, NC – Francis Marion University sophomore
Leander Neuhaus fired rounds of four-under-par 67 and three-under 68 on Monday (Oct. 13) and occupies fourth place in the players' standings, while the Patriots are 11th in the team standings following the opening day of the Phoenix Invitational Men's Golf Tournament.
The 54-hole event is being played at the 6,871-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club. The final round will be held on Tuesday.
Francis Marion registered a 289 score during Monday morning's round and then bettered that score by two strokes during the afternoon round for a 36-hole total of 576. UNC Wilmington leads the team standings by three strokes over the host Elon University.
Neuhaus' opening round was a career low and included seven birdies, while his second 18 holes included five birdies. He is two strokes off the lead.

Ryan Bozard carded rounds of 72 and 71 and is tied for 36th position at 143. Junior
Josh Dugard (79-73=152) and sophomore
Matthew Parker (77-75=152) are tied for 82nd place, while Patriot red-shirt freshman
Chan Lee (73-83=156) occupies 89th place. Parker is a Florence native and a product of Trinity Collegiate School.
