MOUNT OLIVE, NC – Sophomore Fatima Hernandez Huerta contributed a pair of wins to help Francis Marion University claim a 5-2 road win over the University of Mount Olive, Wednesday (Apr. 1) in Conference Carolinas women's tennis action.
Francis Marion (6-7, 5-2) will step out of conference play to host Augusta University on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.

Jensen Gibbs were victorious 6-1 at the No.3 doubles position. After Mount Olive (4-9, 1-6) registered a 6-2 win at the top spot, Patriot sophomores
Valery Gomez and
Lara Lanno earned the doubles point for FMU with a 6-2 victory at the No.2 position.
Hernandez Huerta opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No.5 position to put Francis Marion up 2-0. The Trojans evened the match at 2-2 with a straight-sets win at the No.1 spot and a three-set victory at No.3.

Alyssa Boschin put the Patriots back on top with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No.6 singles, and junior
Magdalena Skachova provided the clinching point with a 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 6-2 win at the No.2 position. She owns a team-best 10-3 singles record this season and is unbeaten (7-0) against conference opponents.
Gomez accounted for the other Francis Marion point with a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) win at the No.4 spot.
The Patriots lead the conference's East Division standings by a half-game with a 4-0 mark.
