Lanno and Skachova claim All-Conference recognition

FLORENCE, SC – Two Francis Marion University women's tennis players were recognized with All-Conference honors on Wednesday (Apr. 22) as Conference Carolinas announced its post-season awards prior to the start of the 2026 tournament.  Sophomore Lara Lanno was named to the second team and junior Magdalena Skachova was placed on the third team.

Lanno is a repeat winner, having garnered third-team recognition in 2025.

The eighth-seeded FMU women face Erskine College at 5:30 p.m. in an opening-round match on Wednesday (Apr. 22) at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

Lanno, a native of Pforzheim, Germany, played No.1 singles for the Patriots (with the exception of one match) and was 10-8 in singles competition and 6-5 against conference foes – including three wins against fellow members of the All-Conference squad. She recorded a 9-7 overall doubles mark, while splitting time between the No.2 and No.3 positions, and was 6-5 in conference action.

Skachova, a native of Bustehrad, Czech Republic, led the Patriots with a 15-4 singles record, including an 11-1 mark against conference opponents while playing No.2 singles.  She occupied the No.1 doubles slot and record an overall mark of 11-8, but was 8-4 in conference play.

Lanno is a product of Kepler-Gymnasium Pforzheim and is majoring in business management, while Skachova graduated from Sportovni Gymnázium Kladno and is majoring in business administration.
