For the third time this season, Francis Marion University sophomore
Leander Neuhaus has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, this time for the week of Feb. 11-17.
A native of Hamburg, Germany, Neuhaus tied for third in the players' standings, three strokes behind the medalist, with a six-under-par 70-70-70-210 (-6) scorecard at the recent 20th-annual Wexford Intercollegiate Tournament on Hilton Head Island, S.C…
He helped Francis Marion to a season-best sixth-place finish in the 18-team field with a 54-hole total of 880. He led the Patriots for the fourth time in five events this season and his 54-hole total was only four strokes off his career best. It was his first career Top-5 showing and his second career Top-10 finish.
He leads the team this season with a 71.4 stroke average. FMU's next action will be March 9-10 at USC Aiken's Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Neuhaus is majoring in business management and is a graduate of Gymnasium Eppendorf.
