The Francis Marion University golf team has earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America for the recent 2024-25 season. This is the 12th consecutive year the Patriots have garnered this team honor.
To be eligible for GCAA team recognition, a school must register a team grade point average of 3.00 or higher for the entire academic year. Head coach
Mark Gaynor's team posted a 3.20 GPA for the 2024-25 year.
Francis Marion was one of 167 NCAA Division I members nationwide to earn this honor, and the Patriots were one of nine Palmetto State institutions.
The Patriot golf team is one of 10 FMU sports that garnered academic team awards this past year.
The nine-member FMU squad included seniors
Xavier Schwarz (Virginia Water, Surrey, England) and
Landen Seiffert (Florence, SC); junior
Pake June (Florence, SC); sophomores
Ryan Bozard (Hollywood, SC),
Simon DiMaggio (Hollywood, SC), and
Josh Dugard (Orpington, Great Britain); and freshmen
Chan Lee (Huixquilucan, Mexico),
Leander Neuhaus (Hamburg, Germany), and
Matthew Parker (Florence, SC).
On the course, Francis Marion finished sixth at the Southland Conference Championship Tournament, registered a 296.00 team stroke average, and recorded six Top-10 finishes.
