KANNAPOLIS, NC – Freshman
Leander Neuhaus fired an even-par 70 on Tuesday (Apr. 8) to pace Francis Marion University during the final round of the Irish Creek Collegiate Men's Golf Tournament hosted by Appalachian State University.
The two-day event, played on the 7,002-yard, par 70 Club at Irish Creek course, was shortened to 36 holes due to rain on Monday.
FMU recorded a 291-team score on Tuesday and tied with Presbyterian College for ninth in the team standings at 587. Marquette University won the team title by 13 strokes over second-place Old Dominion University.
Neuhaus finished tied for 21st position in the players' standings with a 36-hole total of 145.
Senior
Xavier Schwarz shot 71 during the final round and tied for 31st place at 147, while Florence native and FMU junior
Pake June was one shot back at 148 and tied for 37th after shooting a 76. Sophomore
Simon DiMaggio registered a 74 on Tuesday and also tied for 37th.
Patriot sophomore
Josh Dugard tied for 58th place after shooting a 76, while sophomore
Ryan Bozard shot 77 and placed 92nd.
Francis Marion will play in the Southland Conference championship tournament, April 21-23, in Kerrville, Texas.
