Pake June fired a two-over-par 72 during Monday's (Apr. 7) opening round of the weather-effected Irish Creek Collegiate Men's Golf Tournament hosted by Appalachian State University.
The two-day event was to have included 36 holes on Monday, but was shortened to 18 holes on the first day because of wet weather. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday starting at 8:30 a.m. on the 7,002-yard, par 70 Club at Irish Creek course.
FMU registered a 296-team score on Monday and is 10th in the team standings.
June, a product of Trinity Collegiate School in Florence, carded three birdies over the front nine and is tied for 20th position in the players' standings. FMU sophomore
Simon DiMaggio shot 74 and is tied for 36th, while freshman
Leander Neuhaus and sophomore
Josh Dugard are both tied for 39th place after shooting rounds of 75.
FMU senior
Xavier Schwarz (76) is tied for 48th and sophomore
Ryan Bozard (84) is 96th.
Morehead State University holds a four-stroke lead over Marquette University at the top of the team standings.
