Xavier Schwarz and freshman
Leander Neuhaus both fired final-round one-under-par 70 scores on Sunday (Oct. 20) as Francis Marion University moved up two spots to record a Top-10 finish at the 54th-annual Furman University Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament.
The two-day, 54-hole event was played on the 7,131-yard, par-71 Furman University Golf Course.
This was the Patriots' final tournament of the fall season. They will return to action on Feb. 17-18, 2025, when FMU hosts the Wexford Intercollegiate Tournament on Hilton Head Island.
Francis Marion registered a final-round 287 score and placed 10th with an 874 total.
Twenty-seventh-ranked Texas A&M University captured the team title with a record 829 score, edging the host Paladins by two strokes.
Schwarz finished tied for 33rd in the players' standings with a 216 total, while Neuhaus was one stroke back at 217 and tied for 37th position.
FMU sophomore
Ryan Bozard (222) tied for 58th place after a final-round 74, while sophomore
Simon DiMaggio (74-78-73=225) placed 70th and sophomore
Josh Dugard (78-72-78=228) tied for 77th position.
Wake Forest University's Scotty Kennon was the medalist with a tournament record of 11-under-par 202.
