Carlos Garre shot a final-round 73 to finish tied for 35th in the players' standings and he led all Francis Marion University golfers as the Patriots placed 21st after Tuesday's (Sept. 13) final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Louisiana Tech.

The three-day, 54-hole event was played on the 7,105-yard, par-72 Squire Creek Country Club.

Francis Marion carded a 298-team score on Tuesday to finish at 886. The University of Southern Mississippi edged Middle Tennessee State University for the team title by one stroke.

Garre's final round gave him a tournament total of 215. McBee native
Grant Sellers was the second Patriot finisher as he shot a 74 over the final 18 holes and tied for 66th at 219.

Other FMU golfers included Florence natives
Michael Rials (75-73-77=225) tied for 99th and
Pake June (77-76-76=229) in 116th position, and Hartsville native
Mitchell Vance (79-76-75=230) tied for 117th.

Francis Marion will return to action at the J.T. Poston Invitational Tournament, Sept. 26-27, hosted by Western Carolina University in Sapphire, N.C.
