Garre sets pace for Patriots in the low country

DANIEL ISLAND, SC – Carlos Garre shot a two-under-par 70 to pace Francis Marion University during Monday's (Oct. 31) second round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament hosted by Charleston Southern University.
 
The final round will be played Tuesday on the 7,446-yard, par-72 Ralston Creek Course.
 
The Patriots carded a 299 team score during the second 18 holes and are tied with Wofford College at 621 for 16th position in the team standings.
 
Based on his stellar Monday play, Garre moves up in the players' standings to 23rd place with a 36-hole total of 151.
 
FMU first-year players Braeden Barnett and Pake June shot rounds of 74 and 75 on Monday and are tied for 58th and 67th positions respectively. Grant Sellers posted an 81 and is tied for 75th, while Xavier Schwarz rounds out the Patriot golfers as he is tied for 96th after shooting a second-round 80.
 
Florida Gulf Coast University widened its lead over second-place Mississippi State University to three stokes in the team standings, while the University of South Carolina is third.
 
After no one broke par on Sunday, five golfers bettered par on Monday.
