AIKEN, SC – Junior John Burghardt shot a career-low 66 during the opening round and stands 26th after two rounds as Francis Marion University is tied for 10th place at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament.

The final round will be played on Tuesday at the 6,617-yard, par 70 Palmetto Golf Club course.

Francis Marion was tied for ninth after a 298 team score on Monday morning.  The Patriots shot a 294 tally during the afternoon round and are tied with Temple University and host USC Aiken for 10th place in the team standings at 592.

Clemson University sits atop the team standings with a 17-under-par 543 score.  The University of Virginia (545) is second, followed by Furman University (564), the University of Memphis (571), and Army West Point (574) to round out the Top-5.

Burghardt was tied for second in the players' standings after his opening-round 66.  He finished Monday with a 146 total.   Sophomore Grainger Howle is tied for 37th after firing rounds of 75 and 73 to finish at 148, while freshman Casper Kennedy (77-72=149) is tied for 41st position, junior Jacob Morris (80-73=153) is tied for 63rd, and sophomore McClure Thompson (81-76=157) is tied for 71st.

Morris carded an eagle during each of Monday's rounds: a two on the 306-yard par-4 18th hole in round one and a three on the 482-yard par-5 10th hole in round two.

Clemson teammates Jacob Bridgeman (67-66=133) and Turk Pettit (64-69=133) are tied for the top position in the players' standings with 7-under par totals.
