DAVIDSON, NC – Senior Lars Sandvoll shot rounds of even-par 72 and 74 on Monday (Sept. 24) to lead the Francis Marion University squad as the Patriots are tied for 11th after two rounds at the River Run Collegiate Golf Tournament hosted by Davidson College.
The 54-hole event is being played on the 7,208-yard, par-72 River Run Country Club course. The final round will be contested on Tuesday.
Charlotte (577) holds a one-stroke lead over the host Wildcats (578) in the team standings, while Furman University is third at 579. Francis Marion tallied an opening-round 302 team score and was ninth, but fell back into a tie for 11th after a 307 round in the afternoon. The Patriots (609) are only four strokes out of the Top-10.
With his 146 total, Sandvoll is tied for 16th in the players' standings. FMU freshman Grant Sellers (75-78=153) is tied for 40th, while freshman Pierre De Caevel (78-78=156) is tied for 54th, sophomore Michael Rials (77-80=157) is tied for 59th, and red-shirt freshman McClure Thompson (81-77=158) is tied for 65th.
Jack Lang of Davidson (67-70=137) and Keller Harper of Furman (68-69=137) are tied atop the players' standings at seven under par.
