AIKEN, SC – Seniors Marc Casullo and Alessandro Caselli both shot one-under-par 69 scores during Monday's (March 5) afternoon round and Francis Marion University is tied for 10th-place after the opening 36 holes of The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by USC Aiken.

The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the 6,617-yard, par 70 Palmetto Golf Club course.

The University of Virginia led after both of Monday's rounds and holds a three-stroke advantage over second-place Augusta University, 551-554.  The host Pacers occupy third place at 557, while UAB (558) stands fourth and East Carolina University and Furman University are tied for fifth position at 561.

FMU shot a 295 team score during Monday morning's opening round, but then shaved 15 strokes off that total during afternoon play.  The Patriots are tied with Wofford College with a 575 total, only eight strokes behind ninth-place Coastal Carolina University.  FMU's 280 score during the second round was only one stroke off the squad's season-low total of 279 registered during the second round of the Camden Collegiate Classic in October.

Casullo stands among the tournament leaders in birdies with nine and is tied for 12th in the players' standings with a 70-69=139 scorecard.

Caselli is tied for 29th with a 73-69=142 tally, while senior Callum McGuigan (74-71=145) is tied for 46th, junior Lars Sandvoll (78-71=149) is tied for 65th, and freshman John Burghardt (79-79=158) is tied for 86th position.

Augusta's Broc Everett heads the players' standings with a seven-under 66- 67=133 scorecard.
