Sandvoll shoots 3-under at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, SC – Junior Lars Sandvoll shot a three-under-par 69 to lead the Francis Marion University golfers at the weather delayed Furman University Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament, played on Saturday (March 24). 

The 49th-annual event saw play suspended due to lightning at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday. Round two will continue beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, with round three to follow with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

The Patriots did finish play on Saturday and FMU carded a 289 score to occupy the ninth position in the 21-team field.

Following Sandvoll on Saturday were senior Callum McGuigan (70), senior Alessandro Caselli (75), freshman Jacob Morris (75), and senior Marc Casullo (76). Playing as an individual, FMU freshman John Burghardt shot a 74.

Sandvoll's round was three strokes off his career-best of 66.  McGuigan recorded an eagle on the par-5, 483-yard sixth hole.

The three-day event is being played on the 6,994-yard, par 72 Furman University Golf Course.
