ATHENS, GA – Senior Marc Casullo and junior Lars Sandvoll both carded a pair of 75 rounds on Monday (March 12) to help lead Francis Marion University to a ninth-place finish at the 36-hole Southern Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament, hosted by the University of Georgia.

The one-day event was played on the 6,917-yard, par 72 Athens Country Club course.

Eighteenth-ranked University of Arkansas registered the low team score for each of Monday's rounds (282 and 285) and earned the team title with a 17-stroke edge over second-place Kennesaw State University and Georgia's "A" squad (both at 584).  Lipscomb University placed fourth at 588, while 19th-ranked Florida State University rounded out the Top-5 with a 592 tally.

Francis Marion was tied for 11th position after a 306 score during the morning round, but climbed two positions after posting a 301 score in the afternoon.  The finish is the Patriots' fifth Top-10 showing of the season and fourth consecutive dating back to the fall.

Casullo and Sandvoll were among a group of golfers tied for 24th in the players' standings with identical 75-75=150 scorecards.

FMU senior Alessandro Caselli finished tied for 36th place with a 78-74=152 total, while senior Callum McGuigan (78-77=155) tied for 52nd and freshman John Burghardt (80-79=159) tied for 70th. During the second round, Burkhardt eagled the par 5, 444-yard No.6 hole.

Arkansas teammates Alvaro Ortiz (74-67=141) and Luis Garza (68-73=141) tied for medalist honors with 3-under-par scorecards.

Francis Marion will return to action on March 23-25 at the Furman Intercollegiate Tournament in Greenville.
