AIKEN, SC – Junior Marc Casullo led Francis Marion University on Tuesday (March 7) with a 76 score as the Patriots finished 15th at USC Aiken's Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament.
The 18-team and 54-hole event was held on a 6,617-yard par-70 course.
The Patriots carded a 312 team score on Tuesday to finish with a 54-hole tally of 899.
Clemson University rallied from a three-stroke deficit over the final 18 holes to edge the University of Virginia by one stroke (835-836). The University of South Carolina (845) placed third, while Augusta University (848) and East Carolina University (857) rounded out the Top-5.
Casullo finished with a 54-hole score of 72-74-76=222 and in a tie for 44th position in the players' standings. He carded four birdies during his final round. FMU freshman Haakon Andersen (79-66-78=223) finished in a tie for 52nd place, while sophomore Lars Sandvoll (77-72-77=226) tied for 61st, junior Callum McGuigan (77-73-81=231) placed 76th, and junior Alessandro Caselli (77-73-83=233) tied for 81st position.
Derek Bard of Virginia earned medalist honors after firing a final-round even-par 70 to finish at six-under-par 204.
Francis Marion will play next in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Monday in Athens, Ga.
