CAMDEN, SC – Junior Lars Sandvoll shot a final-round 71 on a day when pin placements were very tough and he placed third to lead Francis Marion University to a fifth-place finish at the Camden Collegiate Invitational Golf Tournament, Sunday afternoon (Oct. 22).
The 17-team event was hosted by the University of South Carolina on the 6,455-yard, par 70 Camden Country Club course.
The finish was the Patriots' first Top-5 placing in three seasons dating back to a third-place finish at the 2015 Wolfpack Spring Open Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.
The host Gamecocks carded a 54-hole tally of 841 to win the team title by 12 strokes over second-place James Madison University (853). USC Aiken finished third at 856, followed by Elon University (858), and Francis Marion (862) to round out the Top 5. The Patriots shot a 294 team total on Sunday.

Sandvoll's 54-hole total was a career low besting a 213 tally at the 2015 Janney VCU Shootout where he tied for fifth place.
