DULUTH, GA – Seniors Marc Casullo and Alessandro Caselli both carded one-over-par 73 scores on Tuesday (Oct. 17) as Francis Marion University placed 12th in the final team standings at the seventh annual Autotrader Collegiate Men's Golf Classic.
The 54-hole event was hosted by Georgia State University on the 6,694-yard, par 72 Berkeley Hill Country Club course.
Georgia Southern University captured the team title with an 847 score following a 289 round on Tuesday. The host Panthers placed second at 871, followed by the University of Notre Dame (873), Mississippi State University (877), and Lipscomb University (878).
FMU posted a 302 tally over the final 18 holes to finish at 900.
Casullo finished with a 77-72-73=222 scorecard to finish in a tie for 29th position, while Caselli posted an 80-73-73=226 scorecard to tie for 53rd place. Junior Lars Sandvoll (77-74-75=226) also tied for 53rd, while senior Callum McGuigan (76-71-81=228) tied for 63rd, and freshman John Burghardt (78-80-84=242) placed 87th.
McGuigan finished tied for second among all players with 40 pars during the event, while Sandvoll was tied for fourth with 12 birdies.
Steven Fisk of Georgia Southern shot a tournament-record 197 score (66-66-65) for the 54-holes to earn medalist honors by 12 strokes over the second-place finisher.
Francis Marion will return to action this weekend, Oct. 21-22, at the Camden Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina.
