AIKEN, SC – Seniors Will Godfrey and Tobias Pettersen and sophomore Marc Casullo each shot four-over-par 74 scores during Monday's (March 7) afternoon round and Francis Marion University stands 18th after the opening 36 holes at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational Men's Golf Tournament hosted by USC Aiken.
The tournament is being played at the Palmetto Golf Club - recognized as the fourth oldest golf course in the United States – and its par 70, 6,617 yard layout. Tuesday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The University of South Carolina leads the team standings with a 276-266=542 scorecard, 14 strokes ahead of second-place University of Virgina (556). The Top-5 is rounded out by Augusta University (572), East Carolina University (573), and North Carolina State University (576).
Francis Marion registered a 307 team score during Monday morning's first round and a 297 tally in the afternoon to stand at 604.
Pettersen is tied for 26th in the players' standings at 72-74=146, while Casullo is tied for 56th at 75-74=149. Godfrey is tied for 82nd (80-74=154), while freshman Lars Sandvoll is 86th (82-75=157) and junior YongLiang Shao is tied for 87th (80-81=161).
South Carolina teammates Matthew NeSmith and Will Miles are tied for the top spot in the players' standings with 36-hole totals of 6-under-par 134.
