AIKEN, SC – Senior Lukas Crisp and junior Tobias Pettersen both shot career-low rounds and Francis Marion University stands 16th after Monday's (March 9) opening day of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational Golf Tournament.
The final round of the 54-hole event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. USC Aiken is host for the tournament at the par 70, 6,617-yard Palmetto Golf Club.
COMBO PLAYER/TEAM RESULTS
Eighth-ranked University of South Carolina holds a one-stroke lead over 33rd-ranked Clemson University, 546-547, in the team standings. Nineteenth-ranked University of Virginia is third at 552 and 28th-ranked Kennesaw State University is fourth at 558.
Francis Marion was tied for 10th after a morning round of 287, but dropped to 16th after a 293 round in the afternoon.
Pettersen's 67 second-round score included six birdies. He is tied for 23rd with a 36-hole score of 140. Crisp shot 66 over the opening 18 holes (5 birdies) and is tied for 30th position after a 75 score in the afternoon.
Patriot sophomore YongLiang Shao (74-73=147) is tied for 64th, while senior Austin Frick (73-78=151) is 78th and freshman Marc Casullo (75-83=158) is 88th.
Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern University leads the individual standings with a 67-65=132 scorecard, while Aaron Cockerill of the University of Idaho is one stroke back at 66-67=133.
