FLORENCE, SC – The nationally ranked Francis Marion
University men's and women's tennis teams celebrated Senior Day
with regular-season concluding wins over Flagler College, Sunday
morning (April 7) in Peach Belt Conference action on the Kassab
Courts.
The 27th-ranked Patriot men rallied from an early 3-1 deficit to
win the final five singles matches and claim a 6-3 victory.
The 10th-ranked Patriot women, hobbled by injuries, won all three
doubles matches en route to a 7-2 win
The FMU men finish their regular season with a 13-7 overall
record and a 4-6 PBC mark. With a few matches yet to be
finished by other conference teams, the Patriots are currently
sixth in the Peach Belt standings.
The Patriot women (20-2, 11-2) finish third in the PBC
standings. Both Francis Marion teams will take part in the
conference tournament next weekend at the Florence Tennis
Center.
Prior to the matches, three seniors were recognized: Alex Caspari,
Mona Blauen, and Kerry Hall. Blauen picked up her 69th career
doubles win at the No.1 position, while Caspari earned his 51st
career singles victory at the top spot. Hall was victorious at No.3
doubles for the women.
