FLORENCE, SC – The nationally ranked Francis Marion University men's and women's tennis teams both defeated Georgia Southwestern State University on Sunday (March 24) in Peach Belt Conference action.
The 27th-ranked FMU men swept the Hurricanes 9-0 for their sixth straight win, while the 11th-ranked Patriot women won their ninth straight match, 7-2 over the GSW women.
The Francis Marion men improve to 11-3 overall and even their conference mark at 3-3. The FMU women are now 16-1 overall and 8-1 in PBC play. The Patriots have won 54th consecutive matches against unranked opponents – dating back to early in the 2009 season.
Sophomore Julia Graf (15-0) and freshman Lena Specht (14-0) remained unbeaten in singles competition this season with wins at the No.2 and No.4 positions.
Both the Francis Marion men and women will play host to NCAA Division I opponent Lafayette College on Wednesday at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
