AIKEN, SC – Francis Marion University stands 18th after the opening two rounds of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament, held Monday (March 7) in Aiken.
The University of Alabama leads the team standings by four strokes over Liberty University after 36 holes. FMU recorded team rounds of 310 and 301 on Monday.
Patriot golfers will be paired with players from the University of Kentucky and Presbyterian College for Tuesday's final round, which for FMU will begin at 9 a.m. on the back nine.
FMU sophomore Sebastian Backlund is tied for 61st place in the individual standings after rounds of 75 and 76. Kenneth Svanum is tied for 65th position following rounds of 77 and 75. Svanum did register an eagle during Monday's competition.
Other Patriot golfers include Travis Gantt (80-75=155) in 80th place, Andrew Weir (82-75=157) tied for 84th, and Fredrik Sporck (78-82=160) in 87th position.
Alabama's Bud Cauley leads the individual standings following consecutive rounds of 4-under-par 66.
