Junior midfielder Linsey Downey of the Francis Marion University women's soccer team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5.

The Little River, S.C., native scored the match-winning goal in the Patriots' 1-0 win over North Greenville University in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Tournament.  Downey the scored the goal unassisted on a 17-yard shot at the 58:02 mark.  She started and played 66 minutes in the match, and prior to the goal, nearly scored on a header in the 54th minute.

Third-seeded Francis Marion (8-5-4) advances to play second-seeded Belmont Abbey College in the tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at Truist Soccer Complex at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, N.C.
