Junior shortstop Madalyn White of the Francis Marion University softball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Feb. 17-23, 2025.

A native of Currie, N.C., White batted .600 (12-for-20) in six games (all wins) last week.  She recorded 10 runs scored, a homer, and five RBIs.  She was 3-for-3 in stolen bases and did not commit an error in 15 fielding chances.  She slugged .750 with .652 on-base percentage from the lead-off spot.

During the week, she went 3-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI in a doubleheader sweep at 19th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University, and then this past weekend in 4 games at the Swamp Fox Sizzler, batted 9-for-12.  She hit first career grand slam in 10-2 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College on Feb. 23.  She owns a 9-game hitting streak, and in 16 games this season, has 10 multi-hit games.

The ninth-ranked Patriot squad, now 14-2, will play a pair of road doubleheaders this week: Thursday at Limestone University (Feb. 27) at 1 p.m. and Saturday (March 1) at Catawba College at 1 p.m.
