Graduate student Ryan Hunter of the Francis Marion University men’s track & field team has been selected as the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Mar. 2-8, 2026.

Hunter posted a first-place finish and reached an NCAA qualifying mark in the javelin with a toss of 63.56 meters on his second attempt at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. The Blythewood, S.C., native broke his school record in the 200 meters after crossing the line in 21.81 seconds to place eighth, which also hit the league qualifying standard. Hunter also achieved a conference mark in the 100 meters and finished sixth overall with a time of 10.74 seconds.

The Patriots return to the track next weekend with a short trip to the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on March 13-14.
