Senior goalkeeper Makayla Willets of the Francis Marion University women's soccer team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 11-17.

The native of Mastic, N.Y., played all 180 minutes in two road wins last week.  She recorded a combined six saves and posted a goals against average of 0.50.

Willets recorded three saves in a 2-1 win at the University of Mount Olive on Sept. 19, while facing 9 shots.  She blanked Barton College 2-0 on Sept. 23, while registering three saves and facing 10 shots. It was her 10th career shutout as a Patriot.

She upped her FMU career saves total to 259, the third most in program history.  She also helped FMU to a 6-1-0 start, equaling the third-best start in program history.

FMU will play at Converse University on Saturday (Sept. 30) at 2 p.m.
