Freshman Chelsea Seidewitz of the Francis Marion University women's tennis team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Mar. 6-12, 2023.

Seidewitz, a 5-7 native of Fassberg, Germany, went 1-0 in both singles and doubles as FMU won its only match of the week, a 6-1 victory over Edinboro University.

She teamed with Julie Martincova at No.1 doubles to defeat Rafaella de Almeida and Maria Clara Salomao 6-1, and followed that with a straight-sets 6-1, 6-0 win at No.2 singles over Cecillia Carayol.

Seidewitz owns a team-best 6-1 mark in singles competition this season.

The Patriots' only action this week is the Conference Carolinas opener when FMU hosts the University of Mount Olive on Saturday at 1 p.m.
