Francis Marion University Athletics

Graduate student goalkeeper Andrea Scapolo of the Francis Marion University men's soccer team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 5-11, 2022.

The Milan, Italy native recorded two clean sheets last week as the Patriots tied at Coker University 0-0 and won at King University 4-0.  He recorded seven saves in the two matches and ran his scoreless minutes streak in goal to 223:31.  During the midweek contest at Coker, he made two saves during the final 27 minutes as the Patriots played a man down.

He currently ranks second in the conference in goals against average (1.00) and save percentage (.786) and leads the league with the two shutouts.

Francis Marion will host Wingate University on Tuesday at 7 p.m., before returning to Conference Carolinas play on Sunday with a 4:30 p.m. match at Lees-McRae College.  Please note that the LMC match has been moved from Saturday to Sunday.
