Francis Marion University / McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week

Francis Marion University sophomore women's tennis player Camryn Cassetori has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 28-April 3, 2022.

The Plains, Pa., native went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week as FMU extended its winning streak to nine matches with a pair of Conference Carolinas wins.  She registered the match-clinching singles win in both contests.

In a crucial doubles win against Lee-McRae College, she and teammate Gariel Karatantcheva rallied from down 6-2 in the tiebreaker to win the final six points.  She then clinched the match for the Patriots with a win over Laura Ocampo at No.6 singles by a 6-3, 6-4 decision as FMU prevailed 4-3.

Less than 24 hours later against in a 7-0 blanking of King University (Tenn.), she defeated Mireia Mas Ortega at No.4 singles by 6-1, 6-1 and along with Karatantcheva won by default at No.3 doubles.

Francis Marion (10-3, 5-0) will play at Belmont Abbey College on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and at Converse University on Saturday at noon.
