Francis Marion University / McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week

Francis Marion University graduate student baseball player Tanner Wakefield has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 4-10, 2022.

The Gainesville, Ga., native batted .692 (9-for-13) in four games last week, including a series win over Mount Olive and an 8-0 victory over second-ranked Wingate.  He recorded seven runs scored, a stolen base, two doubles, and five runs batted in, while slugging .846.

He had multiple hits in three of the four games and extended his hitting streak to 20 games, equaling the fifth longest in school history).  During the week, he went 3-for-3 in the win over Wingate and was 6-for-10 in the series vs UMO.
