Three Francis Marion University track and field athletes won their respective events at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Track and Field championship meet held Apr. 24-26 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Freshman
Jazmine McDonald-Craft became the first FMU track and field athlete to win an event at the Conference Carolinas championships when she had the top throw in the discus on Friday, Apr. 25. McDonald-Craft, a native of Columbia, S.C., and a product of A.C. Flora High School, lifted a toss of 40.43 meters to win the event. On April 26, she placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 11.50 meters.
Senior
Ryan Hunter won the men's javelin on April 26 with a school-record toss of 64.30 meters, also an NCAA Division II qualifying mark. Hunter is a native of Blythewood, S.C.
Freshman
Rileigh Lacy, a native of Darlington, S.C., won the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.39 meters on April 26.
Freshman
Aukeyonna Sims, a native of Darlington and a graduate of Darlington High School, scored in the high jump, finishing third with a leap of 1.62 meters on April 25.
Freshman
Rashawn Byrd of Columbia, S.C., placed fifth in the men's triple jump (14.20 meters).
The FMU men's 4x100 meter relay team placed eighth with a time of 42.86.
Francis Marion placed eighth of the 14 teams in the final women's standings and 12th of 14 in the final men's tallies.
