Aukeyonna Sims was named as the Conference Carolinas Field Co-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1.
The Darlington, S.C., native established an NCAA Provisional mark and broke the FMU school record in the high jump, as the Patriots competed at the Tryon Banked Invitational on Friday. Sims claimed the event win after clearing 1.68 meters in the high jump, defeating several Division I competitors in the event. She is tied for 25th in NCAA Division II while boasting the top mark in the Southeast Region and Conference Carolinas.
Additionally, she improved her mark in the long jump following a 12th-place finish with a distance of 5.33 meters, which ranks fifth in the conference.
The Patriots are scheduled to compete on Feb. 14 at the Mid-Winter Collegiate Invite hosted in Mill Spring, N.C.
Sims is a product of Darlington High School and is majoring in healthcare administration.
