Patriot Tennis Teams learn Tournament opponents

SUMTER, SC - The Francis Marion University men's and women's tennis teams will open play in their respective Conference Carolinas Tournaments this week at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

Admission is free to the single-elimination event.

The 8-8 FMU women are seeded seventh and will face sixth-seeded Young Harris College on Thursday (Apr. 24) at 2 p.m.  A victory would advance the Patriots to the quarterfinals on Friday at 9 a.m. against third-seeded Barton College.  Both semifinal matches are set for Saturday at 9 a.m. and the championship match is slated for Sunday at 9 a.m.

The 11-6 Francis Marion men are seeded third and will play in the quarterfinals on Friday (Apr. 25) at 1 p.m. against the winner of sixth-seeded Emmanuel University (Ga.) and seventh-seeded Young Harris.  FMU defeated both squads by 4-3 scores during the regular season.

A quarterfinal win for the Patriots would pit them against second-seeded Converse University in the semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the championship match set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
