SUMTER, SC – Junior Rodrigo Moura Ludgero captured a come-from-behind three-set win at No.4 singles to clinch a 4-2 win for third-seeded Francis Marion University over seventh-seeded Young Harris College, Friday evening (Apr. 25) in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Tournament.
 
Francis Marion improves to 12-6 and advances to face second-seeded Converse University in the semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
 
Francis Marion took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point.  Seniors Harri Lloyd-Evans and Austin Vienna were victorious 6-2 at the No.2 position and senior Martin Barbera and freshman Miguel Maia captured their ninth straight win, a 6-3 decision at the top spot.
 
Barbera quickly expanded the advantage to 2-0 with a straight-sets 7-5, 6-1 win at No.1 singles, his 51st career singles win.  The Mountain Lions took the No.5 singles contest in straight sets to draw within 2-1.
 
Lloyd-Evans upped the lead to 3-1 with a 7-5, 6-4 win at the No.3 position.  Both Barbera and Lloyd-Evans were named to the All-Conference Team earlier this week. 
 
Young Harris rallied with a three-set victory 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 at the No.2 spot to close to 3-2, but Moura Ludgero followed with the clinching point by rallying for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win.
