Patriot Tennis teams earn Academic Awards

The Francis Marion University men's and women's tennis teams both earned All-Academic Team status for the 2024-25 school year from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).  This is the 11th time in past 12 seasons that the FMU women have earned this prestigious award, while the men's team gains the honor for the ninth time in 12 years.

The ITA presented team awards to programs with a 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  Nationwide, 76 NCAA Division II men's programs were recognized and 104 women's squads were honored.

The Francis Marion men's team registered a 3.608 GPA, while the women's squad posted a 3.290 GPA.  Both FMU teams are led by head coach Laszlo Leiter.

On the court this past season, the FMU men posted a 12-7 record, tied for second in the final Conference Carolinas regular-season standings, and advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament.  The Patriot women registered an 8-9 mark and tied for sixth in the conference regular-season standings.

The Patriot tennis squads are two of 10 FMU sports that garnered academic team awards this year.
