Senior defender Sebastian Garcia of the Francis Marion University men's soccer team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15.

The native of Asuncion, Paraguay, played all 180 minutes in two matches last week: a 2-0 win over the University of Mount Olive and a 1-1 tie with Lees-McRae College.  From his center back position, he helped the FMU defense allow only 10 combined shots in the two matches with only four being on frame.

Francis Marion, which leads Conference Carolinas in goals against average (0.83 goals per match), will play host to Barton College on Tuesday (Oct. 17) at 7 p.m. and then travel to Young Harris College for a 2:30 kick-off on Saturday (Oct. 21).
