Junior Caroline Thompkins of the Francis Marion University women's cross country team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 2-8.

The Conway, S.C., native led the Patriot women with a 62nd-place finish at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University of Charlotte on Oct. 6.  She completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21:59.59.  It marks the third time in four meets this season that Thompkins has led the FMU finishers.

Francis Marion will compete in the Conference Carolinas Championship Meet on Oct. 21 at the same course in Charlotte.
