Junior point guard Aniyah Oliver of the Francis Marion University women's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 16-22, 2023.
Oliver, a 5-5 native of Goose Creek, S.C., averaged 12.7 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game as FMU won three games last week to run its winning streak to nine straight. She shot 36.0 percent from the floor and was 16-of-18 at the free throw line, while recording five steals and playing 106 of a possible 120 minutes.
Oliver tallied 13 points, five rebounds, and four assist in a road win at Southern Wesleyan University; posted eight points, nine assists, and four rebounds in a road win at University of Mount Olive; and a season-high 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists in a come-from-behind win over UNC Pembroke. In the contest against UNCP, she tied the score record by going 12-of-12 at the free throw stripe.
Francis Marion will play host to a pair of conference games this week: Barton College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and Lees-McRae College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
