Francis Marion University Athletics

Sophomore center Jonah Pierce of the Francis Marion University men's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15, 2023.

The 6-8 native of Sanford, Fla., scored 27 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead FMU to a 97-82 conference win over Erskine College in the squad's only contest last week.  He connected on 12-of-18 field goal attempts and also recorded two assists, a block, and a steal.  He scored 16 of his points in the decisive second half.

Francis Marion will play three contests this coming week: at Southern Wesleyan University on Monday, at the University of Mount Olive on Wednesday, and hosting UNC Pembroke on Saturday.
