Sophomore Leander Neuhaus of the Francis Marion University men’s golf team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 13-19, 2025.
Competing in two tournaments this week, Neuhaus recorded a pair of top 20 finishes while posting a scoring average of 70.5 strokes over six rounds played.
At the Phoenix Invitational, he set a program record with a 206 score for 54 holes at the Phoenix Invitational Tournament hosted by Elon University. He carded rounds of 67, 68, and 71 on the 6,871-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club while recording 16 birdies. He finished the tournament tied for seventh in the players' standings, his highest finish as a Patriot.
A native of Hamburg, Germany, Neuhaus was named the Big Sky Conference Co-Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Phoenix Invitational.
At the Furman Intercollegiate, Neuhaus tied for 20th overall with a three-round total of 217 on the 7,131-yard, par-71 at the Furman University Golf Course. He posted rounds of 71, 73, and 73 with one eagle, 11 birdies, and 29 pars.
Following four tournaments during the fall portion of the schedule, FMU is idle until hosting the Wexford Intercollegiate Tournament on Hilton Head Island on Feb. 16-17, 2026.
