Sophomore outside hitter Haleigh Kamer of the Francis Marion University women’s volleyball program was named the McDonald’s Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 5-11.
Kamer, a native of Black Mountain, North Carolina, averaged 4.28 points, 3.89 kills, and 2.89 digs per set, as Francis Marion delivered a perfect 3-0 week in Conference Carolinas play. She tallied double-digit kills in all three matches and recorded a pair of double-doubles.
On Wednesday night, Kamer contributed 10 kills, 14 digs, two aces, and one block in a 3-0 sweep over Mount Olive. Against Ferrum, she finished with a game-high 15 kills on a .310 hitting percentage, plus 11 digs in a 3-0 win on Friday. The following day, Kamer produced 10 kills on a .364 clip with one ace in a 3-0 victory over King.
Francis Marion continues Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday, Oct. 13, with a road match at Barton College, starting at 6:00 p.m.
