Freshman guard Horaces Jacques Jr. of the Francis Marion University men's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan. 15-21.

Jacques Jr., a native of Orangeburg, S.C., scored a team-high 22 points in FMU's only game last week, an 86-74 win over North Greenville University on Jan. 20.  He registered his eighth consecutive double-figure outing and the second 20-point game of his young career, by shooting 8-of-14 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from behind the three-point line.  He also handed out three assists and registered four steals with a blocked shot.  FMU has won five straight games.

Francis Marion (8-8, 6-2) will host local-rival UNC Pembroke in the latest installment of the Battle of I-95 on Wednesday (Jan. 24) at 7:30 p.m., and then will travel to Erskine College on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
