Senior forward Marlow Gilmore Jr. of the Francis Marion University men's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan. 1-7.

A native of Norway, S.C., Gilmore Jr. averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game in two road wins last week, while shooting a near-perfect 90.5% from the floor (19-of-21).  He averaged only 30 minutes per game in the two contests.  He scored a career-high 28 points in triple overtime win at the University of Mount Olive, while tying the school record by going 12-for-12 from the floor, and finished the week with 15 points in road win at King University, while shooting 7-of-9 from the field.

Francis Marion will host Barton College on Wednesday (Jan. 10) at 7:30 p.m., before traveling to Lees-McRae College on Saturday (Jan. 13) for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
